------------------------------------------------------------ SME Server V5.1.2 plus ServiceLink Release notes - January 10, 2002 ------------------------------------------------------------ The Network Server Solutions Group of Mitel Networks is pleased to announce the availability of SME Server V5.1.2 with ServiceLink. This release includes some new features and a number of package updates. This release is a bundled solution including ServiceLink, a set of network-delivered services. For more information see http://www.e-smith.com/solutions/ Summary of differences 5.0 -> 5.1.2 ----------------------------------- General - The product has been rebranded from March Networks to Mitel Networks. - Existing e-smith version 4 servers and SME Server V5 servers can be upgraded to SME Server V5.1.2. - All version 5.0 field updates have already been integrated. Documentation - Documentation has been extensively updated. New features - A panel to set and modify disk quotas for users has been added. - Support for USB printers has been added. - Support for domain logins by NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP clients has been added. - Experimental support for Internet access via internal ISDN cards has been added. - The ServiceLink virus scanning system has an additional option to periodically scan all files contained in i-bays and/or home directories. Feature changes or modifications - Hardware detection has been updated so that more SCSI adapters and network cards are correctly detected. - The add printer panel has been modified so that a form for entry of network parameters is only displayed if a network printer is being added. - The Blades installation panel has been changed so that it is easier to read and agree to license conditions. A download and install status panel has been added to improve the robustness and usability of Blades installation. Security - The console now performs a strength check on the initial administrator password, and recommends change if the password is too short, is based on a dictionary word, etc. - Any PHP programs installed in i-bays are restricted to only be able to access files stored within the same i-bay. This can be overridden for any i-bay by the administrator. - The latest version of the IMP webmail application is included. This version fixes a security problem. Third Party Package updates included - The samba file and printer sharing for Windows package is updated to the latest version (2.2.2). - The netatalk file and printer sharing for Macs package is updated to the latest version (1.5pre8). - Updated modules for H.323 and RealAudio masquerading - Updated Obtuse-SMTPD to improve handling of error conditions. - The FreeS/WAN IPSEC package is updated to the latest version (1.91). - All packages used unchanged from RedHat linux are updated to the latest security and bug fix versions.
